The European Movement in Latvia (EML) is one of the biggest and most influential NGOs in the political sphere in Latvia. Its main aims are to strengthen EU awareness/information and participation in EU affairs on the one hand and to act as a watch-dog on EU affairs towards the decision makers on the other hand. Regular activities are seminars, conferences, street actions, Europe week, the nomination of the European of the Year and other activities. The EML head office in Riga has 2 employees plus national or international volunteers and project managers (mostly connected to certain projects). The EML has approx. 700 members and 11 regional branches throughout Latvia. The main target groups are young people, NGO representatives, opinion and decision makers and mass media.

The EML is closely co-operating with several other NGOs and NGO networks and with EU related bodies in Latvia, like the EU Information Agency, Foreign Ministry, European Commission Representation, European Parliament Information Bureau and others. The activities connected to the project will take place in Riga and the regions of Latvia. Some of them also in internet.

The EML has been participating several times in youth exchange projects. It is particularily an experienced European Volunteer Service sending and hosting organization (learn more).
